KRAPZ ON TOUR
September 18, 2004
The weather was a bit unpleasant that Saturday morning when the following people gathered in Kranjska Gora: the KRAPZ on Tour initiators Marko Sušnik and Bojan Rauh and the active participants Primož Kerštanj, Grega Strniša and Rok Primc. Then there was the accompanying group: masseuse Maja, supporters Ajda, Blaž, Irena, Barbara and the multifunctional Mojca.
The warming up was done in a nearby Café. Coffee, tea etc. were the necessary stimulators. After that the men started putting on the equipments: the sleeves, the trouser legs, the suspenders, the wind stoppers, the gloves… Finally, they were ready to hit the road. The accompanying group hit it right after them.
The route led us over the Rateče border crossing to Italy and then over the Predel border crossing back to Slovenia. Somewhere in the middle of the sharp ascent the sun found its way through the clouds and it made a day the perfect one! Some of the cyclers were faster, but they all made it to the top. A rest on the top was a joyful one.
The downhill cycling towards the Soča valley was a real pleasure for the men while the others enjoyed the beautiful view. Tea and blueberry brandy were used to heal and prevent the cold.
The route led through Bovec towards Kobarid where we treated ourselves to lunch.
It is unnecessary to say how hard the cycling could be when you are full, but anyway, after 95 kilometres the men reached their destination: Most na Soči.
They earned a glass of beer, food, medals and kisses from the accompanying group.
We took a car-train back home and started making plans for another KRAPZ on Tour.
