Primož Kerštanj, is the “biggest” conductor in Gorenjska region, Slovenia (200+ kg)

Physically he grew up in Jesenice, Slovenia, while musically he grew up at Jesenice musical school. He grew into a pianist in musical schools of Ljubljana, Slovenia and he grew into a conductor as he was attending the European Academy seminars “Europa Cantat”, held for the young conductors every year ( Veszprem – professor Laszlo Heltay, Vittoria – prof. Peter Erdei ).
He has attended the European Choral Symposium in Ljubljana and the World Choral Symposium in Australia. In year 2000 he was chosen into the company of nine other conductors ( between 20 candidates ) to attend the training in France.
In his conducting career he was “showing off” in front of women’s choir Milko Škoberne from Jesenice. Under his guidance the choir sung right into the second place on a choral competition Naša pesem ( Our song ) in Maribor , Slovenia. After that he devoted his time to newly founded mixed choir VOX CARNIOLUS from Jesenice.
He improves his own voice ( bass ) under the guidance of professor Alexander Brown in Ljubljana.
Primož Kerštanj also sings in chamber choir SLOVENICUM and in vocal trio PRIMA VISTA, which under his guidance, sings music from the Italian renaissance.
From March 2000 he teaches the voices of his coeval – the France Prešeren Academic choir from Kranj, Slovenia.
His greatest experience was, no doubt, the conducting of Ariel Ramirez’s Misa Criolla in December 2003 in Vienna’s Konzerthaus and twice in The Slovenian Philharmonic, Ljubljana, Slovenia. The composer, Ariel Ramirez was performing on the piano while he had left the conducting of his musicians and The France Prešeren Academy Choir Kranj to Primož Kerštanj.
